John Batman (1801 - 1839) was an Australian farmer and businessman who was one of the first settlers of the Melbourne area and known for founding the Australian state of Victoria. The photo by Jari Kurittu shows a statue of John Batman in Melbourne unveiled in 1979.

Ira Batman (1862-1934) was an American jurist and politician. He was a member of the Indiana state legislature, and was a judge of the Indiana Appellate Court from 1916 to 1924. The historic Batman House in Bloomingtondale, Indiana was built for him circa 1890.

Daniel Batman (born 1981) is an Australian sprinter. He is known for competing in 100, 200 and 400 meter races and is a direct descendant of John Batman, discussed above.

Batman is a city in Turkey on the Batman River, which joins the Tigris River to the south. It is the capital of Batman Province with 460,000 inhabitants (2004 estimate).
